Currently I'm working on a comparison sheet showing most common AWI
guns. I've managed to do French ones and British 3-pdrs. Now the time has come to do British 6-pdr, 12-pdr
and 5,5" howitzer.
Unfortunatelly, I can't find any decent scale drawings of these guns, although I know the dimensions of barrels and carriages. If anybody can help me in this matter, please contact me - in my Google profile one can find my e-mail adress.
Below the comparison chart in progress. All dimensions in centimetres.

Irlandzkie sztandary (w secesyjnej) / Irish colours (ACW)
In subsequent posts I will present some colours used by Irish troops in American Civil War. Majority of figures were painted by Paweł, who's inclinations to Irish troops is well known.
First - the most famous of Irish units, Irish Brigade of gen. Meagher.

Rebelianci / Rebels
Kilka podstawek pomalowanych przez Pawła Chrzanowskiego. Figurki Pendrakena i Minifigsa, bardzo, bardzo poprzerabiane. Zwróćcie uwagę na nietypowe sztandary pułków 6 i 10 z Południowej Karoliny.
Some stands painted by Pawel Chrzanowski. Figures are conversions from Pendraken and Minifigs. Note the unusual flags of 6th and 10th South Carolina regiments.

Hanowerskie sztandary / Hanoverian colours (2)
Poniższe sztandary zdobyte zostały pod Neerwinden i wszystkie należą do pułków z Hanoweru-Calenberga, a wykonane zostały bez wątpienia podczas panowania księcia Ernesta Augusta.
All colours presented in my previous post had one thing in common: they were based of colonel's coat of arms, so we should assume that they would be changed along with colonel. Today I show some flags with another motif in common - the ducal cypher. All colours shown below were lost at Neerwinden and all belonged to Hanover-Calenbeurg regiments under the rule of duke Ernst Augustus.
We start with two colours, that Mr. Belaubre attributes to regiment Bremer (8B). Greenish shade, shown on the picture is faded dark blue, as it is interpreted as such in Belaubre's book. Naturally, one could ask why such nondescript flag was attributed to this specific regiment, unfortunatelly Mr Belaugre did'n explain it in his book.
Kolejny sztandar sprawił mi nieco kłopotu. Belaubre opisuje go jako należący do regimentu du Mont (11B), ale pokazuje go bez srebrnego wieńca.
Another colour was more trying. Mr Belaubre attributes it to regiment du Mont (11B), but shows it without silver palm leaves. My version of "Triomphes ...", done by Hoynck van Pependrecht shows the leaves clearly. Moreover, on Gallica library pages one can found some of original pictures digitalised and leaves exist on one of these pictures (see the picture on the top).
A teraz kwestia gwardii pieszej (GR).
In his book, Golderg and Belaubre show also the flag of foot guards (GR), also taken at Neerwinden. It is white with golden ducal cypher. Unfortunatelly, my copy of "Triomphes ..." doesn't show such flag, so the source of this reconstruction remains unclear to me. Generally I trust Mr Belaubre, so in this case I will tak his word for that.
Panował wtedy pokój, pułki były w domu, nic nie przeszkadzało by wymienić sztandary dosłownie w przeciągu kilku tygodni. Czy tak się jednak stało - nie wiemy.
Now - the biggest problem. Duke Ernst Augustus died in 1698 and was succeded by George Louis, future king of Great Britain. It seems natural, that with ascension of a new ruler, all colours bearing the cypher of his predecessor should be replaced. The war ended, troops were at home, so new colours could be provided in very short time. If it happened - we don't know.

Hanowerskie sztandary/ Hanoverian colours (1)
Posiadam 10 batalionów (podstawek) hanowerskiej piechoty. W dodatku pomalowanej przez mojego kolegę Pawła, prawdziwego mistrza pędzla. Teraz muszę je przepodstawkować, by odpowiadały założeniom systemu oraz dać im nowe sztandary.
Sztandarom postanowiłem przyjrzeć się dokładniej. Moje dotychczasowe wersje oparte były na książce A. Kühna (Hanoverian armies during the war of the Spanish succession, opracowanej przez P. Condray'a) oraz na obrazkach z witryny warflag.com. Goldberg i J. Belaubre (Lüneburg-Celle/Hannover 1702-1713, w języku niemieckim). Odmiennie niż u Kühna pokazane tam są sztandary opracowane na podstawie trofeów zdobytych podczas wojen Ludwika XIV i uwiecznionych potem w "Triomphes...". Moje nowe sztandary postanowiłem oprzeć na tych właśnie źródłach. W kilku postach postaram się opisać moje rozumowanie. Jeżeli ktoś zauważy jakieś błędy, wdzięczny będę za zwrócenie mi uwagi.
In my collection I have 10 battalions (stands) of Hanoverian infantry, all painted by my wargaming pal and true master painter Paweł. Now I must rebase then to fit new system and give them new flags.
I decided to do detailed research on Hanoverian colours and guidons. My current flags were based on Kühn's booklet (Hanoverian armies during the war of the Spanish succession, edited by P. Condray) and on pictures found at warflag.com site. They looked suspicious to me - they were similar
(too similar) to SYW models. I started some discussion on wargaming forums, but unfortunatelly, nobody could help me
with the information what was the original source of Kühn's
reconstructions. I suspect that Kuhn simply adapted well known SYW flags
to earlier period. I've got another book about Hanoverian armies of the period, the one by C.P. Goldberg and J. Belaubre (Lüneburg-Celle/Hannover 1702-1713, in German). Unlike Kühn it shows colours reconstructed from trophies taken by Louis XIV's armies and drawn in "Triomphes...". I decided to do my new flags based on this source. In this nad subsequent posts I will try to present my point of view. I will appreciate all comments from blog readers.
Pierwszy sztandar zdobyty został pod Fleurus. Belaubre przypisał go lüneburskiemu pułkowi Nettelhorst (oznaczanemu jako 1A&B). Nettelhorst szefował pułkowi do roku 1692. Potem dwa bataliony pułku dały początek dwóm regimentom piechoty - Charles (1A) i Bernstorff (1B).
Our first colour was taken at Fleurus. Belaubre attributes it to Lüneburg-Celle regiment Nettelhorst (1A&B). Von Nettelhorst led the regiment until 1692. Later two battalions of Nettelhorst become different regiments - Charles (1A) and Bernstorff (1B)
Kolejny czerwono-biały sztandar zdobyty został pod Neerwinden. Belaubre pisze wprost: "przypisywany regimentowi Königsmarck" i chodzi mu o lüneburski pułk 9B. Faktycznie, sztandar jest w kolorach heraldycznych Königsmarków. Pułkownik Königsmarck dowodził pułkiem do roku 1694.
Another red and white flag was taken at Neerwinden. Belaubre writes: "attributed to regiment Königsmarck", meaning Lüneburg regiment 9B. Indeed, red and white were Königsmarck's herladic colours. Königsmarck was a colonel of this unit until 1694.
Ciąg dalszy sztandarów spod Neerwinden. Tym razem nie mamy żadnych wątpliwości. Na sztandarze odwzorowano herb pułkownika La Motte, zatem na pewno należał do lüneburskiego regimentu 3A, przynajmniej do 1702 - roku zmiany pułkownika.
Another trophy taken at Neerwinden. In this case we have no doubts. The flag bears the coat of arms of colonel La Motte so certainly it belonged to Lüneburg regiment 3A, ale least up to 1702, when colonel changed.
W kolejnych postach przedstawie więcej hanowerskich sztandarów.
More Hanoverian colours to come in future posts.

Więcej Prusaków / More Prussians
I postponed painting new figures for a while, but as blog must go on I post some general plan pictures of already presented Prussian infantry. By the way - some corrections and suplementary informations. With Kadrinazi ( http://kadrinazi.blogspot.com ) we found out that IR Dönhoff didn't participate in Warsaw battle in 1656 and that preussenweb.de page gives wrong information in this matter. I also failed to mention that IR Holstein Beck took part in battle of Zenta as a part of Brandenburg auxiliary corps.
