Chlum-Rozberice 1866-2011

Kolejnym przystankiem było pole bitwy pod Königgrätz (Hradec Kralowe). Skromne muzeum znajduje się nieopodal wsi Chlum. Miejscowość ta, razem z pobliskimi Rozbericami były areną walk pomiędzy pruską gwardią, która dotarła do centrum pozycji przeciwnika, a austriackimi korpusami, które rozpaczliwie próbowały odzyskać obie wsie. 

Teren bitwy okazał się być bardzo pofalowany. Niekiedy doskonale widać rzeczy znajdujące się kilka kilometrów dalej, na stokach sąsiednich wzgórz, podczas gdy te znajdujące się dwieście metrów od obserwatora ukryte są w fałdach terenu. W tej sytuacji zrozumiałem w jaki sposób pruski korpus gwardii zdołał dotrzeć do centrum austriackich pozycji niemal niezauważony.

Our next stop was on Königgrätz (Hradec Kralowe) battlefield. There is smal museum near the village of Chlum. Area around here and nearby Rosberitz saw much fights between Prussian Guards that took the position in the middle of enemy's lines and Austrian corps trying to retake both villages.

The terrain of the battlefield consists of gently rolling hills. Some times one can see things 3-4 kilometers distant while those 200 metres away are hidden in the folds of the ground. Considering this I finally understood how Prussian Guard Corps managed to infiltrate to the very centre of Austrian position virtually unnoticed.

Niedaleko muzeum stoi pomnik "baterii poległych", która zaskoczona przez pruskich piechurów straciła większość żołnierzy wraz z dowódcą oraz sześć z ośmiu dział. 

Behind the museum there is a memorial to "battery of dead" that, surprised by Prussian infantry lost its commanding officer and great part of men and six out of eight of its cannons.

W Rozbericach stoi pomnik czwartego pułku piechoty "Hoch-und-Deutschmeister", który  wdarł się do wsi pomimo morderczego ognia pruskich gwardzistów.

In Rosberitz - memorial of k.u.k. IR 4 "Hoch-und-Deutschmeister" whose soldiers broke into the village despite murderous fire of Prussian guardsmen.

Pomnik I korpusu austriackiego, zdziesiątkowanego podczas nieudanych szturmów na wieś Chlum. Wśród poległych znalazł się dowódca pierwszej brygady, generał Poschacher von Poschach.

Memorial to Austrian First Corps, decimated during futile atempts to retake Chlum. Commander of 1st Brigade, general Poschacher was also killed in this action.
